Autoimmune Diseases & Glyconutrients

Auto immune diseases are disorders that benefit most from glyconutrition.

While women are disproportionately affected by automimmune disorders, these diseases do not discriminate when it comes to gender.

An autoimmune disorder occurs when your own immune system starts to attack itself. Mercury and other toxins can bind to the DNA of cells and to the cell membrane. Changing the cell

structure alters the cell function. Potentially, this leads to the immune system no longer being able to differentiate between invaders and healthy cells; and attacks healthy cells. This is how autoimmunity can begin.

Glyconutrients act as immune boosters.

A few autoimmune disorders listed at the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) are multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, type I diabetes,
psoriasis, scleroderma, lupus, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and fibromyalgia.

The AARDA states that autoimmune disorders are the third major category of disease in the USA today. They estimate that 205 of the population suffer from some sort of auto-immune disorder.

The American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) has a list of 65 autoimmune diseases (May, 2007):

Other conditions that autoimmunity has been linked to, and where glyconutrients can be useful, are:

Glyconutrients are vitally involved in immune system cells, such as:

  • T cells
  • Natural Killer (NK) cells
  • Stem cells.

Natural Killer cells are our first line of defense against virus infected and mutant cells. Specifically they destroy cancerous and infected cells.
Normal healthy cells are protected from destruction by the presence of glyconutrients and their ability to communicate their identity. If these cells detect that there are diseased or invading cells they will then attack and destroy them.
